S.E.A. project

"WAVES4WATER" is the project the class decided to analyze. Our goal is to improve the energy and the water supply within Porto Conte, a Natural Park situated in the surroundings of our city. We chose the project's name by voting. Everyone proposed one and the winner was SeawaveEnergyAlguer, whose acronym, S.E.A., perfectly matches one of the project 's main topics. According to the class, the title contains, in fact, all the themes of our project. We also chose a logo, which wasn’t easy at all. We tried to make as many references as we could to the various meanings our project contains. The light blue and the blue color represent the colors of the sea - particularly those present in the protected marine area of Porto Conte, highlighting the clarity and depth of the water. We tried to give important meanings to the different colors, like the bright green which underlines that this is a "green" project. We also decided to indicate our city, Alghero, on the map of Sardinia. And finally we enclosed everything inside the acronym, "S.E.A.", and the final title, SeawaveEnergyAlguer.

Our teacher, Manuela Santandrea, gave us the first idea of the project, supported by Costantina Cossu, another teacher. Firstly, we learned a new, innovative educational path that includes various ideas to promote and develop citizenship principles in schools through research activities and by monitoring the European and National fundings. The second step involved a collective discussion that allowed us to choose which project best suited our territory. Afterward, we were assigned roles based on our abilities. Then everyone took note of their tasks within their groups, forming real work teams. We recently met the expert Dr. Marianna Carboni, who provided us with further information regarding our purpose, addressing issues inherent to the latter. The aim of the program is to expose the necessary ideas to minimize the consumption of traditional energy by promoting alternatives and cleaner ways. Sardinia, in fact, is one of the few regions in all of Italy that obtains hydroelectric and the wind energy. Our project is aimed at administrative bodies that work with the organization for the creation of the "waves 4 water" prototype.
