Pitch 1:

The project focused on improving the energy efficiency of lighting systems in Sirmione, known for its tourism potential and scenic beauty. It’s now complete, and its significant funding coming from the EU caught our attention.

Our goal was to determine if the interventions had positively impacted the daily lives of Sirmione's citizens . Its title, "Enlightenment Saves Us," underscores the crucial role of efficient public lighting in achieving sustainability and we covered many aspects such as electricity production sources, lighting element efficiency, and light pollution.

Pitch 2:

We conducted the research by reading articles and gathering data from the Istat and Ispra websites at various levels.

We created a summary report based on our findings.

We arranged a meeting with Mr Campagnola Roberto, the councilor of the municipality of Sirmione, and Mr Rossi Lorenzo, the manager of Sirmione services, along with our delegation. It provided us with more comprehensive and detailed information and we recorded it and put it on our youtube channel among other videos.

We used a Google form to assess the real impact of the intervention and it was shared within our Institute and displayed in the municipal library, allowing us to reach a wider audience.

We conducted a "night" inspection to document the state of the lighting.

Lastly, we made a video summarizing everything we did.

Pitch 3:

After we studied all the data that we had access to, we started thinking about ways we can make public lighting smart by, for example, using sensors to detect people or vehicles and adjust the light intensity accordingly, reducing energy consumption without compromising safety or by creating centralized control systems that allow personalized lighting scenarios.

These technologies optimize energy efficiency and improve the quality of life in cities. Additionally, we thought about creating playgrounds or public spaces with attractions for outdoor physical activity connected to generators that can utilize human movement to create electricity and promote physical and mental health.
