Our project has been funded by the Campania Region and supported by the European Regional Development Fund. It focuses on the "Determination of circulating miRNA signatures using innovative nanosensors for the diagnosis and prognosis of laryngeal tumors." The objective is to create a low-cost, easy-to-use diagnostic kit for early diagnosis of laryngeal cancer, contributing to the third Sustainable Development Goal of the 2030 agenda: health and well-being for all. The funding for this project amounts to €974,328.00..

The statistics from Istat confirm a significant correlation between cancer deaths and harmful behaviors like smoking and excessive alcohol consumption, both of which heighten the risk of developing laryngeal cancer. While laryngeal cancer currently accounts for 3% of all cancer deaths in Europe, the importance of early diagnosis cannot be overstated. Data indicate that early diagnosis can lead to a recovery rate exceeding 90%. This underscores the critical role of awareness, prevention, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles, as well as the dissemination of accurate information to effectively combat this disease. Biogem, with its researchers and all necessary instruments, is at the forefront of early diagnostic methods, prioritizing non-invasive techniques.

We are determined to remain at the forefront in closely monitoring the progress of the project with Biogem, in the hope of soon having in our hands the diagnostic kit that could revolutionize the way cancer is diagnosed in a less invasive manner. We want to ensure that the invested funds have led to tangible and concrete results in improving the diagnosis and treatment of laryngeal cancer. The researchers' tireless and often unnoticed efforts require ongoing support through funding to continue producing the anticipated outcomes. We aspire to witness a continuous decrease in cancer cases and an improvement in the overall health and well-being of everyone through collaborative efforts in research, prevention, and awareness-raising initiatives.
