Pitch

Titolo del Pitch:
The Sighed Library
Pitch 1:

The goal of the project is ambitious: to create a cultural service capable of satisfying the needs of study and information of its citizens, but also to be a reference point for all, a place which is pleasant to visit and where you can entertain yourself. The new library will not only provide its services on the paper material owned, but will also make all documents accessible in digital format. These materials will be classified according to their content, therefore, they will be organised "by areas of interest" and within the thematic sections all types of documents deemed relevant to the specific theme will be held.

Pitch 2:

We chose the project by proposing one each and, after a discussion in class, we decided the most adequate one to our team. Firstly we tried to get in contact with the town hall and we managed to speak with architect Giacomo Losapio, who acted as a representative. We also talked to Rosa Leuci, the lady in charge of the circle of readers and the library's current manager. The final task of the project was to present our activities to the authorities and especially to our teachers and parents. Lastly, on April 19 we held our event at Palazzo Tupputi. Among the participants there was Sergio Salerno, of "Il Sospiro Di Bisceglie",  Alessandra Di Pierro, of Libri Nel Borgo Antico, Paolo Lopolito, of Europe Direct and Giampiero De Meo, our tutor who has supported us in this process.

Pitch 3:

After the end of our project we still hope to keep monitoring the library in another way, as users. We look forward to the opening of the central library in autumn, not only to make use of its spaces, but also to finally begin to borrow books and explore the online archives. The digitalization of the library will be a huge step forward for our town; however, it might be an even better innovation to be able to connect to the archives of other digitised public libraries, as an “integrated library system”. Moreover, it could be a nice extra to be able to have a snack between study breaks in the library, if there was an internal cafè, like in many bookshops. This project also opened us the doors to work next year too with the “Circolo dei Lettori” so our work will stay bound to the libraries.
