Environmental and water depollution

For the first time we, as students of the 3D class of the 'L.Lilio Adorisio' high school, are going into the innovative educational monitoring course  'at school of open cohesion' (ASOC). It is useful for the completion of PCTO project and will be carried out in English. The project we have chosen deals with the monitoring of environmental depollution in the municipality of Cirò, more precisely the depollution of water; such a precious resource we very often neglect, without understanding its great value. The objective of our civic monitoring is to have accessible and clean water as an essential element for life. Every year many people die from diseases due to inadequate water supply and hygiene levels. In addition, poor water quality also has a negative impact on food security. We chose the name 'Blue gold' for our team because water, a basic necessity for the survival of all living beings, is compared to gold because of its great value. The first step in this experience was to assign the various roles within the team. The project managers, Aurora Aloisio and Immacolata De Fino, guided and gave the right instructions to the team, entered the credentials into the ascuoladiopencoesione.it platform, entered the logo and links of the social pages created by the social media managers Francesca Vulcano, Gemma Martino and Rosamaria Secreto, who created the accounts for each social media, so that we could share our experience through the hashtag #asoc2223. The designers, Alessia Sammarco and Francesca Morrone, developed a logo that summarised the sense of the project that our team wants to monitor; the analysts, Itria Celsi and Miriam Valente, researched the data useful to monitor the project; the storytellers, Alessandra Albano, Giusy Funaro and Ilaria Malena, wrote the story of the lesson held in the classroom and the stages; the bloggers, Francesca Certomà and Raffaele Afflitto, by using the work of the storytellers, analysts and coders, wrote a post in which they summarised the decisions taken by the team, contextualising the research; finally, the coder, Giuseppe Scarola, studied the "Short guide to open data" to support the team . In the first step, open data were collected. Having found the data and ascertained their quality and usability, we moved on to processing them. Calabria Region is the planner, while the municipality of Cirò is the beneficiary and implementer, together with Calabria Region. The general objective of the QSN was to guarantee the conditions of environmental sustainability of development and adequate levels of environmental services for the population and businesses, while the specific objective QSN was to increase the supply capacity, quality and efficiency of the water service, and strengthen soil protection and the prevention of natural risks. The Priority QSN was Energy and environment: Sustainable and efficient usage of resources for development. The intervention, eligible for funding under the 2007-2013 European Regional Development Fund Programme, was started by the council led by the former mayor Mario Caruso. It is a new realization whose theme is environment, for (drinking) water treatment. The Operational objective of the project was to promote the optimal use of water resources for multiple purposes by increasing and rebalancing the water supply for different uses. The start of the project was scheduled for December 28th, 2007, the end for June 16th, 2009. The Funding monitored is € 1,400,000.00 of which cohesion funds are € 741,153.39. In the following steps, we are going organize meetings with the main parties involved.

Let our journey begin!
