The project has the ambition to create a modern public library, that is able to meet the needs of general information and consultation for people of all ages. We are part of the 3BL from liceo scientifico Leonardo Da Vinci in Bisceglie. We’re 11 girls and 6 boys; we all have a nice mutual bond. We decided to partecipate in this contest because it coincides with our linguistic address. Every element in our logo represents a part of our project. For instance, the pink outline represents “the sospiri” which are a traditional pastry from our hometown. The sweets' name derives from the arab presence in Puglia between 847 to 871 with the Emirate of Bari. These pastries were originally produced by the Saint Claire nuns in the current library that used to be the monastery of "Santa Croce". The books picture stands for the library that we are analyzing and finally, we chose the British flag due to the fact that our project is in English.
We chose the project by proposing one each and, after a debate, we decided the most adequate one to our team.
We have chosen to work on the library project because we thought it could be useful to our school studies.
Our team's goals are:
•To involve as much citizens as possible in a cultural venture;
•To monitor how the project is progressing;
•To spread awareness in order to maximize the turnout of youth in the libraries in Bisceglie.
We can't wait for our library to open so that we could take advantage of its services and finally take a "sospiro", or rather, a "sospiretto" of relief.
