Renewable energy in the Lentini’s Hospital
The Lentini hospital is the recipient of continuous improvement interventions, both on the structural front and in human and instrumental resources, like the other hospitals and territorial structures of the province, despite the covid emergency having required, in the last year , a superhuman effort of extraordinary organizational processes”. This was stated by the general director of the Asp of Syracuse Salvatore Lucio Ficarra who announces the imminent start of an important energy efficiency intervention in the Lentini hospital. In fact, with the resolution of 8 July, the tender for the energy efficiency works for the Lentinese hospital was awarded, with a total intervention of 5 million euros with Po Fesr 2014-2020 funds financed by the Energy Department of the Sicilian Region . The program includes, among other things, the replacement of the fixtures and fittings of all the hospitalizations, the construction of a 350kw photovoltaic system, the efficiency of the air conditioning system, the replacement of all the lighting fixtures with other very low consumption LEDs . The efficiency of the air conditioning system, which will be air-cooled and no longer water-cooled, will solve the atavistic problem of the lack of summer water resources, which does not depend on the ASP, which this year has been overcome thanks to the collaboration of the Prefecture, Forestry and Navy.
The attention of the company management towards the Lentini hospital in the last year has been at the highest levels, and it is aware of the need for an increase in personnel, which will be able to find an answer especially with the overcoming of the emergency linked to the Covid-19 pandemic which has involved all the health facilities in the province, including the Lentini facility, as well as all regional and national hospital facilities.
As a demonstration of the particular attention paid to the management of the Lentini hospital, the procedure for appointing the new health and administrative directors was completed in recent days, following a selection notice, which was attended by the best professionals present in the Company: they are respectively Antonino Micale (in the photo), former acting director of the Syracuse Health District and director of Penitentiary Health and Vincenzo Cannavò, former acting administrative director in the past of the same unit and recently head of Territorial Services.
During the current year, the selection procedures for the primary doctors of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics were completed and, shortly, the competition for the appointment of a new primary doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology will be announced, as well as for the post of plastic surgeon for the Breast Unit, established thanks to the commitment of the regional health councilor Ruggero Razza, while the procedures for the activation of the Pathological Anatomy department and the appointment of its manager are being completed.
"In recent months - explains the medical director of the Lentini hospital Antonino Micale - the company management has proceeded to stabilize various medical and non-medical figures, including the deputy medical director of the unit.
