From the metro to the airport

Capodichino station of Metro line 1
Work continues for the final station of line 1 of the Naples underground, that of Capodichino - Airport which will allow users to arrive inside the Capodichino International Airport by train.  When the works are finished, the new trains will be in service and will offer a totally different service compared to the current ones, which have been in service for over 30 years, especially as regards the frequency of runs.
The new trains are already being delivered and a total of about twenty will arrive: some already delivered are undergoing the necessary pre-exercise, with night tests on the METRO network.

Capodichino station: a train connection between the port, the railway station and the airport.
With the opening of the Capodichino station, Naples will be one of the first cities in the world that will have a direct connection by rail, by underground, between the three major points of city mobility, i.e. the port, the railway station and the airport.
The works continue to create a museum gallery, an archaeological park, which traces the history of the city.  In the large excavation that was carried out, two ancient Roman ships were also found.
At the railway station, the already functioning Garibaldi Station has been active for some time and with a great revolution underway in the large town square which has been completely transformed.  The interior of the station has also been redeveloped with a large 2-storey food hall and 14 restaurants.  At the moment, line 1 of the Naples Metro ends here which, starting from Piscinola, near Scampia, crosses a good part of the city, connecting in about 25 minutes to the Naples Central railway station.
The new station under construction called Capodichino – Aeroporto is beautiful and was designed by the recently deceased architect Richard Rogers.  The station, as you can see from the photos of the project, will revolutionize the airport area by redesigning the access with covered pedestrian paths, connections with the car parks and many roads.  Once finished, the station should first be activated with a shuttle service and then it will go fully operational.  The project is, as for the other stations, very beautiful and is characterized by a large round roof that allows natural light to reach the deep central well from above.
